Ingredients
Scale
2 cupsorzo pasta
1 tablespoonolive oil
1lb chicken sausage, sliced
3cloves garlic, minced
2 cupsbroccoli florets
4 cupschicken broth
1 teaspoonItalian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cupgrated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoonsfresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Start by heating the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the sliced chicken sausage to the pot. Sauté the sausage for about 5–7 minutes or until its edges turn golden brown, releasing its wonderful flavors and aroma.
Next, toss in the minced garlic into the pot. Stir it around for about a minute until you notice the pungent aroma filling your kitchen.
With the garlic aromatic and the chicken sausage browned, it’s time to introduce the broccoli florets. Gently stir them in and allow them to cook for about 2–3 minutes until they become tender yet still maintain a bit of crunch.
Add the orzo pasta along with the chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir everything well to combine. Cover the pot and allow it to cook for 10–12 minutes, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
Once the orzo is cooked to your liking, remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it’s completely melted and gives the dish a rich, creamy texture.
